Larry Kirkman

Larry Kirkman served as Dean of the School of Communication at American University from 2001 to 2012, where he played a pivotal role in developing key graduate programs, including the MA in Political Communication. He forged impactful partnerships with industry leaders such as The Washington Post, The Associated Press, and Sony, enhancing opportunities for students and faculty alike. As a faculty member in the Film and Media Arts division, he contributed to the development of foundational courses and internship programs, leaving a lasting legacy in both leadership and teaching.
