Master of Science Computer Science

Artificial intelligence, software engineering, robotics—as technology changes, we need professionals ready to lead in an increasingly digital world. Our master’s program trains students of diverse backgrounds—those who studied computer science and those pivoting into the field—through a common core curriculum and a personalized specialization in applied computer science, cybersecurity, game and computational media, or data science.

Master of Science Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security

Train to be a specialist in terrorism and homeland security policy. Our MS program will prepare you to analyze, understand, and respond to terrorist and homeland security threats. You’ll learn how to develop strategic, policy-based security solutions at all levels of government. The program combines flexible online learning with a practice-based curriculum and a brief onsite DC residency.

Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing

For more than 40 years, writers have developed their work and exchanged ideas in the district’s only creative writing MFA program. Our workshops provide a rigorous yet supportive environment where students hone their skills as they explore a range of approaches to the art and craft of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry among a close-knit community of respectful peers and faculty.

Graduate Certificate Cross-Cultural Communication

Open to students with a bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. Courses include: International Communication, Psychological and Cultural Bases of International Politics, and Intercultural Relations.

Bachelor of Arts Dance

Push yourself physically, creatively, and academically. At AU, you’ll study dance theory, creative research, movement from multiple perspectives, and movement forms. Our dance faculty provide individualized instruction and mentorship in the studio, classroom, stage, and community. Alumni have gone on to careers as performers, teachers, choreographers, bodywork practitioners, dance therapists, movement analysts, physical therapists, and athletic trainers.

Graduate Certificate Data Science

The world runs on information. We are surrounded by huge amounts of data, and businesses, governments, and NGOs must be able to analyze this data effectively. The graduate certificate in data science will provide you with the core technical proficiencies to visualize and analyze data, building on your current knowledge to help you become a data scientist. The program provides a standalone data science certification.
